Distinguished service cross:
Awarded for an act or acts of heroism that have been so notable and have involved risk of life so extraordinary as to set the individual apart from his or her comrades.

Distinguished service medal:
Awarded for distinguished leadership in action.

Silver star:
Awarded for distinguishing himself or herself by extraordinary heroism.

Legion of merit:
Awarded for outstanding services and achievements.

Purple heart:
Awarded to those who have been wounded.

Distinguished flying cross:
Awarded for an act or acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations.

Humanities medal:
Awarded for heroism not involving actual conflict.

Bronze star:
Awarded for bravey.

Meritorious service medal:
Awarded to senior ranking officers for meritorious service worthy of recognition.

Commendation medal:
Awarded for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service.

Good conduct medal:
Awarded for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity.
